Default need help with giving a value to my RHD BB4

hi guys, i purchased a 1994 RHD BB4 Prelude Si VTEC a few months ago, and I have been able to get it successfull titled and registered here in the US. The car is completely bone stock and is in very good shape with only ~130k km. It has some minor exterior scratches in the paint from being shipped over on a boat. It has an LSD transmission, power folding mirrors, factory EL gauge cluster, digital automatic climate control, OEM fogs, and more...

I looked up the book value on a USDM 1994 Prelude VTEC with ~80k miles on it and low book (NADA) = $5000 and high book = $7000. That's for a stock USDM LHD model.

I'm considering selling the car now, but I don't know what to ask and realistically expect to get for it. It was a long and very difficult process to get it titled and registered, and it is 100% legit (no VIN swap bullshit or anything like that). The JDM chassis # stamped on the firewall is the same # on the US title.

What could I realistically expect to get for it? and what should I ask for it? I'm considering listing it on ebay for maximum exposure.

*** update 1/3/06 ***
car is officially for sale now: http://hondamarketplace.com/zerothread?id=1481861

*** update 1/7/06 ***
i received payment last night from AbstractLude for a $500 non-refundable deposit. he has 45 days to pay me the balance of $8500 for a total of $9k. Pending sale to him.

honestly, if you're willing to wait for the right buyer, you could probably get 8-9 grand for a clean RHD prelude. I'd pay that much...

yeah, that's what i'm thinking about. starting the auction at $1 with no reserve and let it ride for 7 or 10 days. i'm just worried about paying $80 and then having the buyer flake in the end.

So you guys think I could get $8-9k out of it? How much should I start my initial asking price at? $10k? $12k? I want to allow room for haggling, and not start out at my rock bottom price.

Does Ebay not refund your listing fees if a buyer fails to pay?

Honestly, I'd be suprised if you were able to get around high KBB value. Yes, it's a JDM car. Yes, it's fully legal. Yes, it's got some goodies USDM cars don't.

However, I think finding a buyer is going to prove difficult. There are plenty of people on the 'net who are going to say "if I had $8k laying around for a project car, I'd buy it". But the reality is, finding the person who DOES have that kinda money to spend on a somewhat impractical car is going to be tough. In short, the car may be worth upwards of $8k, but finding someone to buy it is going to be the toughest part.

just out of curiosity how much did you pay TOTAL to get the car, ship it here, and make it legal? also...how in the hell did you find one being sold by people willing to set everything up and actually go through with getting it on a boat to the US? It just seems like it's nearly impossible to do, and if it can be done is way to impractical for just a Prelude. Did you get an amazing deal on everything or what?

I bought it after it was already here. Let's just say I'm only looking to make $1-2k in profit for all the time and effort I've put into it. I bought it on a whim, and I'm not really in it for the money. I want to be compensated some, but not trying to double my money or anything.

It's not officially for sale just yet, but look for my FS thread. I'll post here with a link when I do have it for sale. I will be open to trades or trades + cash for my car.

2000 big ones, in my opinion (not yours and I am not saying you are wrong) rhd in a lhd world is just plain stupid. But what do I know, I'm Canadian?

The reality of selling a car is that it is worth what someone is willing to pay.. Its stupid yes, but its reality. List the car at 10 grand and if someone pops for 9k - sell it. If your not in a rush - that will be helpful. A LOT of people want RHD cars - and a BB chassis is something unique. Someone will want it and pay what its worth to you - your just going to have to deal with a bunch of expletive-tards who are low balling and saying its worth 12 bucks to find that person.

Good luck - sounds like a slick car.

i would ask for high KBB value PLUS the costs of making it legal for US roads.

I have since removed the Ski Rack, and fixed the hood and had it re-sprayed. It also is now titled and registered in the US.
