Default removing stock shift ****?

i was wondering how do u take out the stock shift **** on the 5th gen preludes? I try to twist it off, it won't come out. Usually on cars, u just twist the **** and it'll come out.

I think there's a pin, or screw, or something on the side...

Are you guys serious? I have a 5th Gen OEM shift **** on my 4th Gen. It is the SAME EXACT **** as the one that came with my 4th Gen.

All you have to do is pull down evenly on the shift boot near the top of the boot (silver ring is part of the boot. Pull on the front and back). It has snap tabs on them. It's designed to be taken off that way.

Once the boot is off, just unscrew the shift ****.

The "clip" is part of the shift ****. The other end of the "clip" is the chrome painted ring between the boot and the ****. You just pull down on the chrome painted ring and it will snap lose. Once the boot is free, twist off the ****. It's easy. You don't have to take the center console apart. LOL

I had to beat the hell out of mine with a hammer and screwdriver for it to unclip

agreed for the base, but i think the SH has a different one that i hate. it's more rounded, without the little lip to the front of the **** like the reg lude. maybe this is only for certain years, as my brother's SH is a 99, my base is 01. he's been trying to get my shift **** forever.

The way I hold it makes the stock **** just feel uncomfortable for me... it's all about personal taste...

Everyone have different opinions. I like the SH *****. The base model ***** feels like a door ****.

And btw, I can believe the OP almost took apart his console to remove the shift ****. Haha

yeah really. i think it depends on if you hold your ***** by the top or grip them from the side... there really is no way to talk about this that's not a little gay... i'm a topper, helps keep away from that dreaded 3rd-4th misshift to 2nd at 90... unless you just really want new valves. a friend was driving me home cuz i was drunk and ended up financing my new ferrea set. and he's usually a good driver, it's just easy to do in the lude.

I like to change it up... take it from the top, grip it from the side. Sometimes I use just my finger tips. Hell, when my right hands tired I'll use my left hand if I need to...

Wait... we're talking about shift *****? Oh... my bad...

guys...that skunk **** is crap, you will ruin your trans with it, it allows for no feel at all....

the best **** i know of so far is the long, skinny razo ****, best for grip, sits the lowest, and you can feel everything....after using it versus the skunk it is like having 20/20 vision after being blind....

besides, limpmode....you should use a different hand placement for every shift, so it is only natural to go to the correct next gear....

http://www.shortshifter.com/techniques2.htm

i shift like that every time now and i love it....havent missed a gear ever...

i've never missed one either, thank god. i've caught myself just short of doing it once or twice. i have always done something like that, just not quite so backhanded on 3-4 and 4-5, although it makes sense. that's a good site. i'm gonna try it exactly like that and see how it feels. good info on something most people don't put much thought into

I actually shift that like quite often... interesting...

but what does the skunk2 shift **** have to do with misshifting? I've never misshifted with mine + forbidden short shifter
