b18c1 with 11:5:1 ross pistons
heads built with stock cams
when you start the car it's pretty loud quiets up a little when warmed up
but it is still there in lower rpms when warm
sounds like a loud valve tap, but i can't tell if it's from the head or block.
doesn't seem to be a rod bearing, tryed the plug wire test and adjusted the valves but the wierd thing is it's only in lower rpms from idle to maybe 1600 and the car drives fine pulls hard, just this sound is getting me, i have never heard piston slap before so i don't know if thats what it is or not
wanted to see if anyone else had some suggestions or maybe had the same issue at one point in time.
any help much appreciated thank you!!!
i was thinking lmas but they are a little expensive to buy and not have them not be it you know???

A lot of hondas do that. My b16 with just a P&P used to tap a lovley song. My friend had a built 1.8 w/ a similar setup and tried everything. His car still ran strong but used to tap real bad. He replaced everything in the head.
if it only does it when the motor's cold then it's piston slap. My car does the same thing in the mornings with the cp pistons. If it did it all the time, i'd say check the valve lash

yea thats what i thought too but i check valve lash and it does do it when it's warmed up, it's not like just valves ticking, if i had to gues it sounds like the rocker hitting the head as if the lma's were bad, but i can't tell where it's coming from
any other suggestions keep em coming!!!!
thanks for replies!!
