Default ? about 8000 rpm

i have a jdm b16A and it redlines at 8200, so they say. however, at about 7500 mine makes a whistling noise, smilar to a pressure cooker, and bottoms out at 8. any ideas? vtec pulls strong...

yea but if they stock cams esp the automatic ones they not making any power....whistle itself not a prob but doesnt your ecu start to cut off the party?

another thing is that the stock tach on my car was off and lagged by about 300 rpm!

Just buy CTR cams and replace them. You can't go wrong, If yours is a early b16 all the cams are weak. Your ignition timming could be off too, if it is falling off big time. As far as rev limit on your ecu, send it to locashracing.com, get the mugen package. Rev to 10k after the mod, I replaced my valve springs with crower units and the titanium retainers. I am going to get a MSD ignition with adjustable rev limit. It is a ignition cut, not a fuel cut. Fuel cut to me just sounds like only bad can come from it. Lean=boom!!
