Rear Toe Can't Get To Spec
I am unable to get right rear toe into spec. I have a stock suspension on my 97 del Sol. The right toe link is maxed. Technician said that "these things happen when you have 190,000 miles on the frame". Rear tire wear is normal. Why won't it get to spec, and how can I fix it? Would I have normal wear if the trailing arm was bent? Any insight would be helpful.
Sounds like a bent trailing arm. A bad bushing could also cause problems getting a consistent alignment as well, but generally not the primary cause of not being able to get the alignment corrected.
Thanks for the quick reply. The bushings look very good. I agree that a bent trailing arm is a likely cause, but I suspect that a bent arm would cause uneven wear in my rear tires. This hasn't been the case so far.
The del Sol had 160,000 miles when I got it, so I really don't know it's history. I know that this problem isn't new to the car because the toe link adjustment slot was lengthened to allow adjustment past the stop. It's maxed out now.
Now I need to decide if I should replace the trailing arm and bushings, or just get a custom toe link. Does anyone know if aftermarket toe links are available for de Sol's? I have seen them for Integras.
