New crx, gotta stop the oil leaks
I picked up a new crx over the weekend, It's replacing my tired 89 with a dead motor for my daily driver.
At any rate its been leaking oil for a long time now, and after a timing belt slip that ended the life of my last crx, I've gotta get this cleaned up so she can keep going forever. I just replaced the valve cover gasket & grommets (the cover just slid off & the gasket was like hard plastic)... Although this fixed some of the leak I now know there is definately more to fix.
It looks like the distributor or cam seal may need to be replaced from looking at the bottom of the distributor..
Question 1 is: how is the oil building up around the headers like in my pics below. Is this a tell-tale sign or is it probly just making its way over from the distributor/cam?
The far side of the motor is covered in oil too, unfortunately its missing the lower timing cover (my guess is a lazy shadetree mechanic left it off) and as a result there is a ton of oil slopping around on the accessory side of the block. Should I expect that the crank or oil pump seals on this end need to be replaced as well?
It will also recieve a new timing belt while I'm in there. ( I'm a little aprehensive to do the timing belt myself seeing what happened to the last car).
I dont want this thing to leak at all when I'm done so what can I expect to change?
before I had any 'alone time'

after cleaning and driving 80 miles

replace o-ring on dizzy hopefully thats it, on my last car the bearing in dizzy was bad and the shaft inside wore down and leaked oil through the dizzy, i getto rigged it and drilled a hole in the bottom of the cap and put a piece of vacuum line in and ran it to a plastic bottle to collect the oil
replace the cam seal, and dizzy O ring. When you put the dizzy back on, put some Honda Bond on it as well. My B16 for some reason would leak, new gaskets and all...the Honda bond stopped it.
My DOHC ZC has the same cam seal leak as yours on the drivers side, if you pull the plastic cover off the cam gear, you can see ewhere its coming from and just running down.
