Break help
This was suposed to be simple but now its pissing me off!
I am doing brakes on my 1993 SI which I was told had GSR brakes on it. I know the rears on the SI and GSR are the same.
My car has the bigger discs in the front also but I took the pads off and compared them to the ones I got and they dont look the same. I have axis MM pads to replace the old ones with could this be why? the pad shape is a little different though and the tabs on the side are bigger.
Is it possible to have the SI caliper mounted to the GSR Knuckle hub, disc ect???
I asked this in another topic and is wasnt answered and now I can even find that thread

Here is your problem:
Integra calipers for 10.2" brakes look identicle from the outside to Civic calipers for 10.2" brakes. Even though the two calipers look the same, they are not the same. The integra version has a slightly larger caliper piston, and slightly larger pad as well. The Civic caliper is probably the one you have. If that is the case, you will need pads from any NON ABS 93-95 Civic 2dr coupe.
The easiest thing to do would be to take your pads to Autozone & compare them with their civic EX & integra pads to make sure you order the ones for the correct model...
Several other civics share this same caliper:
All 92-95 ABS models
94 Del Sol VTEC
All 93-97 ABS Del Sols
All 93-00 Civic EX coupes
All 99-00 Civic Si coupes

Thank you soooooo much you have helped me more times than you know with your posts!
I was actually just figuring this out on my own a little bit also, there is a site called http://www.forparts.com that has a PDF file for civics that lists all kinds of part #s including the #s stamped on the back of the NISSIN calipers.
So what is likely that was done to my car to get the bigger discs on there?

They must be 10.2" civic brakes, and not integra ones. No big deal though. They would have had to replace the front knuckles & brakes. The rears would have been left alone (along with the prop valve). If you have a sway bar in the rear, they also replaced the rear LCAs.
The brake master cylinder should have also been replaced with a 7/8" unit from a civic (stock is 13/16"). If it wasn't, then you should look into doing that (93 NON ABS EX 2dr one should bolt onto existing booster). You can tell what size MC you have by looking at the embossed metal writing on the passenger side of the MC.
If they used a larger integra master cylinder (1" or 15/16") it is possible that they swaped the booster too. If that is the case, I would sell the integra stuff & switch to Civic EX MC & stock booster (if available)...
