$225 to replace front wheel bearing; reasonable?
Basch Acura found my wheel bearing was bad; they tighetened and said I could leave it and see how it is but the damage is probably done. Since I have a drive to Vegas in about two weeks, I am guessing I want to get it fixed before then.
They quoted me $73.50 for the wheel bearing, and then $150 in labor. So about $225 out the door.Does this sound reasonable?
Or is this something I could do on my own in a day? I have a completely free weekend, but I am not sure how involved replacing teh bearing would be.

corner 3 garage takes care of my all my wheel bearing needs.
Stock Steve
chris, maybe you can press it in your self if you balance the bearing on your hub on a jack under your car and then just jack it up

Corner 3 garage?
I know I could find a place to do the pressing for $25, but the part is still $75. I could order from Len, but I kind of want/need this before my long hard drive to Vegas.
What happens if I don't fix the bearing before such a drive? Any risk/worries??

I'm gonna go with Craig, remove hub your damn self, then take it to someone with a press. And say no to drugs

I can do it, and a lot of other people do it. I have seen people at Honda using the same method.

wheel bearing - $50
domestic guy at the corner shop pressing in a new one on your removed knuckle - $20
remove/replace knuckle yourself - cost of bandaids and beverage of your choice
knowing that you saved yourself $150 - priceless

No, you use a pitman arm puller to separate the ball joint. But if you use a slide hammer, you don't have to separate the ball joints.
