We should have an ITR Track Day for the Peeps of the South!
Well I dont know about you guys but an EXPO in Michigan is a little too far for me.
(I could do 3-4 drivers edge events for traveling costs of that)
what would some of you souther guys say to maybe jumping on with a HPDE here or trying to organize one for ourselves.
Just a thought!
I will talk to Rick @ the drivers edge about setting it up if poeples are interested. So let me know.
TIA

It seems like the name EXPO 6 is taken... try "Texas Track Day" instead ?
Or better yet why not come and be part of the fun... the drive to and from is 50% of the fun!

Well if you want to join in I have been talking to a few people about an event here in FL sometime between Jan-Mar. If your up for the drive your more than welcome to join. That's not to say I won't be at expo 6 though.

You want an event by you? ORGANIZE IT!
-Dave, who has been an organizer for multiple expos and the wtdr expo and the closest drive ever was 2 states away.

Kind of defeats the point of having a national event, no?

It has to be, cause neither Texas nor Florida are what anyone would consider "central".

I am sooo glad you said this. I understand that many of you have obligations, but many dont come bc its "TOO FAR". I travelled half way across the country last year for 5 and wasn't close to the furthest travelled participant. Some of you need to suck it up and show up, or dont bitch about not being able to attend.

It could have been worse:
Dallas to GingerMan: 1056 miles
Dallas to Mid-Ohio: 1101 miles
Dallas to VIR: 1146 miles
Dallas to Sebring: 1199 miles
Dallas to BeaveRun: 1244 miles
Dallas to Summit Point: 1281 miles
Dallas to Watkins Glen: 1484 miles
Dallas to Pocono: 1497 miles
Dallas to Lime Rock: 1653 miles
Dallas to Laguna Seca: 1672 miles
Dallas to Infineon (Sears Point): 1761 miles
Dallas to Pacific Raceways: 2201 miles
Maybe the problem is that Texas is far from a lot of the major tracks, as well as from concentrations of ITR owners. Ever think about moving?

Well, the WTDR Expo was held in the South. Were you there? No!
Go ahead and organize your own event. You, too, could have the opportunity to lose thousands of dollars of your own money. Go for it!

I think it's spelled wHine...

how bout this, save up some money instead of doing other meaningless crap and drive to expo in June. expo should be an expense you expect to pay every year so you should factor it into your budget

WTF is up with Texas people? No offense Migs.
I drove 18 hours to Expo 5, and met up with a Florida guy along the way.

WOW! I didnt realise that everyone would throw such a fit about this.
It was not ment to be a cry session or ment to bash on any of the event organizers.
This thread was not ment to be a negative one.
HOWEVER! it was ment to be constructive for the people that would be interested in it.
IF you are NOT one of those people jsut keep on bashing it b/c all it does is bring it to the top.
IF you ARE one of those parties interested PM me.
I believe there are a few track days we could get in on around that same time. If you would be interested in both we could see if we could do at a different week end so we can accomidate both track days.
and just FYI, I personaly dont have rent out a track my self! all I have to do is let everyone know about an event open to the public and if they register in the future they are good to go. If not they are spectators. It is up to them.
<-NOT looking for a fight or sympathy. Is looking for a good track day that lasts longer then the drive to it.
<-Also went to expo5. It was fun! but I am not sure I can do it for time/work reasons and I am looking for an alternative
If you take offence to this I am sorry. But unfortunately my ITR does not pay the bills

I think you're missing the point. The Expo isn't a track event. It is a get together.
Otherwise it would just be another HPDE.
But if you want to have your own HPDE down in Texas, go ahead. But be considerate enough to not try to call it an Expo.

IF you put together a well planned HPDE event whose main interest is ITRs in TX I'll try to come. I have no intentions of bashing your idea without backing it up.
Swallow that
Oh yeah... Any NYers want to come ?

mods if you can change the title name make it "ITR track day in Texas" Please.
although it will be a get together if some people would like to go

here is a link to the current driving schedual for the drivers edge
http://www.thedriversedge.net/02_tracks.htm
worste case we could jump in on one of these events and then just plan a banquet or make reservations at a nice restraunt
But I am going to get into contact with Rick with this organization and see what he could come up with and all the details
They have instructors that run the HC in this region (actually race Honda's = VERY important with instructors)
I will post more as I figure it out
