i'm thinking of getting a used set of the apexi 99 spec n1 coilovers with these spring rates. i'd like to hear from people who have this setup, specifically, are they streetable?

That is more than streetable with onnly 5k in the rear - but that spread between 11k in the front and 5k in the rear seems to be too great to me. I can't imagine what the handling characteristics of that set-up must be like and what you have to do in other areas of the suspension to compensate...

Yea I was going to say the same about the difference, kind of odd. I'm running 10k in the front and 8k in the rear (omnipower street) on my ls and its perfectly streetable.

You may have to adjust the rear shocks to near full hardness and the fronts to near full soft setting to get an ideal set up but as said above the gap between front and rear seems a little big. I have 12kg rear and 14kg front Spoon N1 coilovers and its perfect for street driving, and in no way hard or uncomfortable.
I ran the stock 99spec n1 coilover 11kF/5kR setup for a while - it is perfectly streetable. To get the handling characteristics of a tailhappy car, you simply need to use 225's in the front for track. It is quite n00b friendly on track and will easily step back in line if the rear comes out on you.
For more advanced drivers, you can purchase some higher rate rear springs - either through apex-i usa, etc... I have since moved these coilovers from my itr to my hatch and run 11kF/ 16kR. This is borderline streetable - depending on what the roads are like where you live. Incidentally, Apex recommends 14kR at the highest for the stock shock valving.....
I just made a trip to Orlando, FL with this setup and a passenger; it wasn't too bad... that side exit exhaust however.....
I usually run the coilovers on full soft front and rear for daily driving. No sense in making the shocks work harder for mundane purposes. For autox, I turn the rear shocks up to full stiff and adjust the fronts and tire pressures to get the oversteer I desire...
*edit*
If you do get these coilovers, make sure you check them out thoroughly. The 99spec hasn't been sold now for a while (*new) so the set you purchase may be cheap for a reason; i.e., about to blow out or leak, etc...
I have several threads/ posts on this subject, which you should be able to find quite easily in the archives.....

tnx for all the replies. i'm going to be using these coilovers on shitty philippine roads, that's why i'm so concerned with streetability. the potholes here are deep, with sharp edges too!

would these coilovers be a huge step up from my current koni yellow, stock itr spring combo? i'm going to be using it for daily driving, with the occasional autocross thrown in
I don't have an ITR but, I run 99spec Coilovers. I bought it from my friend who had them laying around since 2001. Brand new and they are 11k and 5k.
I say this is one of the most comfortable coilovers I've ever driven in. It isn't TEIN SOFT but it is definitely not omnipower stiff.
I've taken the car out to mountain roads to test around and it was did feel very smooth.
I'm running 99Spec coilovers
ITR sway bar, ASR Brace, Cusco Front Strut bar on my civic and it feels very nice and comfortable enough for my grandma
