If you are going to be driving your car hard then you need to have the money to fix it when something breaks or have an extra motor ready to swap in when yours decides to grenade.

To me it sounds like you really don't know what you are getting yourself into. Spend some more time browsing and do lots of reading.

Yea those guys are both right, I think the saying is, "speed costs money, how fast you wanna go"? If anything I'd get a set of cams from a 92 and up Integra engine, they're good for about an extra 5-10 HP and with as many Vtec head swaps as people are doing you should be able to get them cheap, aside from that, if you crank up the fuel pressure to about 50 PSI or so, and get an intake and exhaust. That's about as cheap as you're going to get for adding a little power, but if you redline it every shift, you're gonna break it eventually, just keep that in mind or it'll get a lot more expensive. Good luck

do like most ppl, start off small, such as plugs and wires, exhaust, and not just a tip, header, intake, stuff like that. Then go from there. remember, turbo's the way to go

^^^^ don't listen to that guy.

Don't listen to who, me? OK so why are you such an authority there noob? I put the 92 up cams in my CRX and it gave it an extra 500 RPMs and at least 5-10 HP(and so you don't bust my ***** on the engine, I swapped in a B18B1 if you've ever heard of that) but since you think VW drivers are ricers you obviously know everything. I was just trying to give the kid some advice on cheap upgrades cause I know what it's like to work with a budget, all I've seen you do on your posts is give people a hard time and talk ****, and I'm sure they all think that's really helpful. If you don't have something useful to say don't waste everyone else's time. What have you built that's so spectacular that you think everyone else should copy you?

Yes of course I'm sure you're mom's camry is impressive. 92 up integras have the b18b2 there genius, and they have a larger cam profile than the b18b1. I didn't tell him to go turbo, that was 97 turbo teg (and you say I can't read)? And assumed since he wanted cheap ideas that a turbo was out of his budget so intake and header make perfect sense. As for the VWs and wide body kits, you got something against someone wanting to be original? So what if it's not what you like, people build cars to suit them not to make you happy. And most importantly I still haven't seen you give someone a shred of decent advice, all you do is talk ****. But that's all good, if you keep it up you'll get banned and then you can go back to talking **** on myspace where you belong.
As for the kid with the original question, I apologise if my response wasn't what you were looking for, and especially if I came off sounding like this nothing interesting fool.

Sorry, I meant b18a in the 90-91 and b18b in 92 up, I don't think there was a 2 in the engine code, cause I'm sure you'll bust my ***** on that.

To the original poster. Just start off small like most of us did. Get an intake, header, exhaust, springs, rims etc. That stuff won't break your budget and it will give you a chance to get your hands a little bit dirty so you can learn to work on your car a little bit. Then take it from there. Just a little bit of advice: Don't tell people you are in the 11th grade anymore, you are just asking for flaming. And nobody really cares how good you can spell but try to at least use periods and stuff because when you don't its just really annoying to read and you are just asking for flaming again. Oh yeah, please take my advice because if not you will bring out the "internet thugs" that act like they are 8th graders as you can see by some of the replys you got. Good luck.

Wrong, B18A was in 90-93. USDM

The 90-91 Models produced 10 less HP than the 92-93 Models.

OK so I was off by two years, but I know the cams changed in the 92-93, I thought the engine code changed along with it. Oops sorry, and I see he has a B1, oops, I was thinking B18A1 when I read it, so I'm really sorry if I gave bad info. At least I was trying to help and give the kid advice, you much like Nothing interesting are just busting people's *****. And you're 17, what right do you have to call anyone a noob? Once again, I hope everyone else helps you out the same way when you have a problem. Just stay in the smokey mountains where you and your disturbingly close family belong.

hey man, don't go crazy with here, but these guys give noobs a hard time

since your 17, you don't have the money to pay for everything, so you will save a lot by doing the labor yourself - go get a manual for your car, check out hondahookup.com you can download it there in pdf

get a fuel pressure regulator and some plugs/wires

then, i would suggest doing suspension, this is an important step that shouldn't be overlooked - improve safety and handling

get some struts, springs, strutbars, drilled rotors, and new tires

this will keep you busy, and you should be able to do all the labor yourself

Rajin I would but Im not sure the mods will listen to me though. I have reported so many useless threads lately such as this one, and nothing seems to get done. So with that said maybe you should report it. Try that
