im having trouble timing my car. i line up exhaust and intake manifold cams, and when i try to put the belt on, the intake cam, moves, and its hard to get it back lined up.

its hard to explain. car runs slow. hesitated, blows white smokes, air filter makes a weird noise. and the exhaust fumes will like give u headache, cuz its smells so bad.

You sure the belt isn't hard to put on because u didn't loosen the tensioner? Or whatever its called???? Im pretty sure thats what its called

 

no its not that, i know how to time a motor. i think i put the intake cam wrong, when i put a new headgasket on

 

can't you use pin punches through the cam caps to keep them tdc?.....
i thought there are holes for doing this, maybe not........

There are, you push a nail or something through them to keep them TDC, then you put the belt on, its easy as hell..

 

im gonna check it out when i get home. if it works, great. i will do it when i change my head gasket.

any tips for when changing headgaskets? mines blowing white smoke.



should i add copper spray? or something else?
