check engine light came on after i installed my header and test pipe
hey guys wondering if anybody knows why my light came on, i have a 2001 GSR and just installed a mugen header and test pipe, the engine light didnt come on during the first day, but on my second day i ran it hard on the highway, and then the light came on, my buddy told me that my o2 sensor has probably blown, could this be true? should i just try to reset my ecu and see if it goes away? because i didnt do that yet, and the light just stays on solid, where do i go to see how many blinks or whatever it is i see ppl talking about here, the codes or something like that
thanks for the help guys

It could be your o2 sensor. The only way to find out is to see what code your throwing. Here's how to check the code, and what code means what.

There is another write up on team integra with pics, but its really easy anyway. Or you can just go to autzone and leave a deposit on a ob2 code checker thing and connect it and will tell you the code. When your done just return the device and you'll get your refund back.

had the same problem, you have obd2 and it throws a light because it doesnt see the differance from the first o2 to the second. You will need to convert to obd1

ok well tday i didnt look for the ecu code, i just did a ecu reboot and the engine light went away, but i'm scared it will probably come back when i run it hard again, my question is now, would it be any harm if i just left it like that, i mean i really dont want to get a new ecu or convert to obd1, would that be a problem? i guess i would have to live with the engine light then, one more thing which year for the tegs that were obd1?

It will come back on whether you drive hard or not. Anyways, there are a couple of piggy back electronics that people make to compensate for the 2nd o2 sensor code when running a test pipe. I had one that I bought from a guy on ClubSi when I had my '00 Si running a test pipe. I think it was about 4-8 wires. It worked like a charm.
Do a search on Google (or alternative search engine) for info on these products.

I don't know for sure if its bad or not, or how bad it really is. But it would seem like since the o2 sensor isn't working then your ecu might run rich. But i really don't know.
OBD1 is pre 1996
