Default Aftermarket fuel pump, not the intank one

I have an aftermarket fuel pump that I wired up to turn on when I have the ignition to 2. Does it cause any damage if the fuel pump is on and the engine is not running?

uh man just wire it to a swich and you wont have to know teh answer to the question.
