trunk slammed and now won't close?
in the locking mechinism on the hatch part there is a clasp that goes under the bar on the car it probbaly closed while not being under the bar, its confusing and hard to explain. Take a screw driver and stick it between the lock part on the hatch and pry it open then try closing the hatch again. I hope you understand what im saying
i have the same problem.
we figured out the latch wasnt going far enough down to go into the locking mechanism so we put a washer in there to shim it. it worked at first but then it stopped working so i dont know what the problem is

Don't slam the "trunk" or what most of the normal population calls the hatch and it won't screw it all up. Sound like you will need to adjust both pieces now.

it wasn't my fault, and it isn't my hatch. We've tried to adjust both pieces but it doesn't work. the only part you can adjust is the actual latch part and not the mechanism.
88crxsi: it isn't locked shut, it won't latch, thats the problem.
Anyone else have any ideas? I'm sure someones figured it out. At first I thought it was the mechanism, but it isn't. I got one from a junk yard and it still doesn't work. I'm guessing i'm going to have to make a new latch?

Me too. The last thing I want to have to do is make a new freakin hatch latch. I don't think I can weld on the stock one because it looks like it is plated with something. Bump for help!
