Default Finished swapping blocks....Motor won't stay alive... Help!

I posted in my previous thread about swapping my B16A block with a B16A2 block due to broken ringlands.

The motor I got seemd to be in good shape although there was a tiny bit of rust around the cylinder walls. I got that off and proceedeed with the swap.

After finishing the swap, I tried to fire her up but the motor shook horribly and if something was about to break. The only way the car would stay on is if I gave it gas, and even then, the car shook horribly and had an extremely rough RPM levels.

Light but thick smoke came out of the exhaust. I smelled a lot of fuel..

I pulled out the plugs and they were wet. The plugs also smelled like fuel.

I did a compression check and here were my numbers...

1- 215
2- 210
3-210
4-215

Every single bolt was torqued down to the correct specs when reassembling the motor...

Any idea what MIGHT be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

What car? Check engine light on? I don't think it's a mechanical issue.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled off the valve cover and noticed that the timing was off by a few teeth marks.

I reset everything including the crank pulley to TDC and it seems to be doing ok now.

However, on another note, the car is a turbo B16A. It hasn't been driven since the swap.. But is there a possibility that the motor still might need to burn off the old oil because my car is still smoking a bit when the throttle is pressed... I'm going to put the wheels back on and let it idle for a good 20 min to maybe burn off the old oil that's been sitting in there... But is it a possibility it might be something else?

Ha, I suck at diagnosing cars over the internet.

lol...How many quarts of oil do I put in after a fresh swap? I put 3.75 quarts in, but my oil light is on now. I checked the oil level and it looks really low. I don't understand why.

I put more oil in and saw the oil level coming up. However, the light is still on. What I don't understand is why is the light still on when I know there's about 4 quarts in the motor? When putting together a new motor, is there MORE oil required?

Also, the oil sending swich is connected, so I don't think that's the reason why the light is on.

the oil "level" light is actually an oil pressure light, you have an oil pressure problem.

It's possible that it could be an oil pressure problem but I've read on other threads that it could possibly be the oil pump or a clogged pump pipe/tube. Anyone know the symptoms of these?

I'm going to drop the pan tonight and see if anything thing is clogged or blocked. This block has been sitting forever so there MIGHT be something clogging the suck tube (I don't know what it's called). If that is totally clean and free of any debri, I will change the oil pump.
