Default coolant leak (water pump?)

I discovered a coolant leak (87 CRX DX) -- looks like it's coming from either the water pump or the transfer pipe from the pump to the thermo housing. I replaced the o-rings on the pipe, but the leak is still there, so now I'm going to check the water pump. So, here's my questions:

If the pump is shot, would I be seeing other symptoms?

Do you think it could just be the o-ring (or gasket) between the pump and the engine?

Thanks.

If in doubt, change it out. You may as well go ahead and change the water pump if you are going to change the gasket. Why go in twice?

Just my opinion.

Yea, why do the job twice. If you change it then you don't have to worry about whether or not it is going to break in the future.

Ah... Because I assumed the water pump was fairly expensive. Doesn't appear to be, though.
