I like it, but maybe it should stay in Japan as the reaction here is <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by pgmatt »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">That is super rice tastic. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I think they are fine, especially since they are true JDM... and also since the pics you see are of my car and my plates...
Just because it glows does not make it 'rice'.
Everyone has the regular plates but not too many have the 'premium' (as these are called). They are especially appropriate on a true JDM ride IMO.

Everything that glows is "rice tastic."
If you like it, rock it. Who cares what anyone else thinks? I think it's pretty cool. Maybe I'll go make one or something.. Couldn't be that hard.

so true, yet so sad.

Wow...i started this thread simply to show people a very strange feature the gov't in Japan offers to regular drivers on the street. I had never really seen this before and simply wanted to show other people the feature.
I 'm actually surprised how much hate there is on an info thread. If you don't like it, thats fine, there are many Jdm things out there i would never run to aquire either, but i do like to read about what things are available and if anyone else had ever heard about, or has other info to add.
Oh well, what the hell....the world is a crazy place.

Oddly enough.. they all start to drool when someone flashes the Honda Access glowing "CIVIC" center piece for the rear hatch.

So true.
I'm rockin' one because I have a RHD EF8 with a lot of Honda Access pieces and nothing but the best in JDM aftermarket for my baby... Spoon, Mugen, Maxximworks, C's, etc etc etc. No cheesy aftermarket rice-**** for this ride.
I've got the highest trim level CR-X Honda made in 1990, and am restoring it to absolute factory/showroom status. I wanted something different on my baby without losing the spirit of the project, which obvioulsy is JDM. Everyone seems to sport the plain regular Japanese plates, and you don't see very many of the 'premium' plates out there. They are government issue in Japan, which also goes in the spirit of the whole JDM Car/JDM Goodies theme.
I also took the time and effort to find the correct 'series' of license plate for my displacement of engine and was even picky enough to have a preference of prefecture the my plate will come from.
The first two pics (of the plate not mounted on the car) are the current plate I will be using when the car comes out to play next spring, and it's from Fukuoka. I would have chosen Nagoya (where the car is from) or Fukuoka as that is where my Japanese parts contact is from (chosen to 'honor' him for assisting my quest for the best in JDM parts/accessories).
A lot of ricers don't have that kind of dedication to their cars 'authenticity'.
This is not a justification of why I chose to sport the premium plate, just an explanation of WHY.
