i'm pretty sure mine has been gone for over a year...
i know people who never bother putting them back. it's not in a location that kicks a lot of debris, especially since most modern roads are not paved in gravel.

lol. i wouldnt say it serves as much of a brace. you can bend it with your hands. there is a nice little iron piece over it, though.
