Looking at a flood salvage 2004 Civic and need some electrical questions answered
Found a 2004 EX that was in a flood. Mileage is unknown since they can't turn the ignition with the key. My question is what computers are say from the instrument cluster level and lower? Don't know how the door motors, ECM or anything would have faired in the flood but have to assume they may need replaced if below that level. Any idea how much some of these things like ECM, window motors, ABS, etc... may cost from a salvage yard? If it isn't too much it may be worth it. If not then I will pass.
As far as I know, once water gets in the wire harness, it's not worth buying the car unless it's going to be a drag car or road racer in which case the majority of the stock wiring won't be needed anyway.
I've heard that water gets in the wires and under the sheathing. Wires can then corrode which leads to shorts, fires, broken electrical component, etc....
Bottom line, the car may be an electrical nightmare

Anyone else have any input. Where are the electrical criticals located on this year and model?
