01 ITR or 77 Slopenose 930
Each is in the present AutoWeek for $24K
The slopenose has been in storage for over 10 years, has a rebuilt motor, and needs a paint job.
Just cuz I like stirring up trouble, sometimes !

Depends if the Porsche came from the factory sloped. if its a conversion, baaaaa. storage for ten years means the car needs a LOT of work, and a LOT of $$$ to get it running right. Old porsches are not cheap to restore, or maintain, ask me how i know. Hell thats like the perfect example of an Apples and Oranges argument.
However, if I could only have one, I'd take the ITR, because older 911s, particularly turbos, do not make very good 'only cars', and i dont like slant noses...

What Rob said.
I've worked in a shop that specialized in Porsches - they need TLC, especially after 10 years of storage (and "storage" can mean "neglect").

True, fixing a Porscheee is never cheap.
But this one seems to be in good order mechanically.
BTW -- not a factory slopenose, ... sort of like how JDM front ends become "needed" after ....
I already have a 97 ITR, but couldn't help considering adding the turbo to my "collection".

Burgundy isn't my fav car color, anyway.
And ... 24K is just his first asking price.
It's also a bit of a "long tail".
W/BBS rims, and fresh rear tires.

aftermarket slope noses to me are like the California type r conversions, kinda ghetto. you can probably find a 78-79 930 in better shape for a few more duckets, and that would be a much better car, more liters, intercooled....170 mph.......mmmmm turbo......
and an older 911 makes a wonderful compliment to a type r, every time i drive mine, i am reminded how wonderful german engineering is (makes me think it was carved from a single block of billet), then when i get back into the R, i fall back in love with technology and Japanese engineering

my dad owned a 78 gray mkt 930 that was built up in germany
mad acceleration with a twist 450plus hps depending on boost
it spins if you dont know how to drive it
it felt like an airplane taking off
and I could run motorcycles with it ( but he didnt know that)
too bad its in car heaven now

Amazing cars to drive, but BIG $$$ to fix and a good working relationshit w/ a good mechanic is a must.
I have a couple of friends w/ old Porsches and those cars are always an adventure.
Odds are good it's safer in a parking lot than an ITR, though.

Damn, this is still near the top!
Funny, the 77 is only/still a 4-speed, too!
I wanted my next car to have at least a six speed!
One nice thing, it will be emissions exempt within another year.

Ed, I voted for the ITR, but only because I think you'd kill yourself going airborne after that little dip in the back straight at VIR.
Oscar thought I was an autocrosser, since I didn't keep my foot all the way down as much as I could have, and kept attacking the twisties whereever they were.
Which was my intent that day, because I wanted to see how the suspension had changed after installing the front Mugen bar.
But back to the point of this post.
The slope nose would not be a track car, more than likely a garage queen (haha ... can you see me putting a cage in that thing?)
Sorry George, But I believe the 935 designation is pretty much specific to the Porsche turbo RACE CARS.
The 935 being a twin turbo early IMSA version, .... (but I digress).
LAter, ...

And the 934 actually did not have the slope nose, right?
Ed, I'm trying to picture you on the GW PKwy with all that horsepower....

The Kremmer (sp) brothers even began the practice of putting little end plates along the sides of the front deck as seen below.
One last thing, I had a poster or two showing the evolution of the 930 series, but I gave it to my nephew a couple years ago.
