Default tranny/shfiting problem - 88 crx si

have a 88 crx si with some shifting problems...it seems kinda hard to shift into gears sometimes and sometimes it feels ok. i bought the car like that bot month ago and been driving around and i can drive it, just sometimes seems hard to get into first and second. gotta push clutch all the way in shift kinda hard to get into gear. i replaced the bushing of the shifter and it got a lot better but still sometimes hard. another problem i have is the shift linkage is very loose...i need a new one since one of the clips is busted making it very loose while in gear. i don't think that could be the problem but it might make it feel better....what do u think could be the problem? u guys think i should check the tranny fluid? or should i just change it out and put some Honda Manual tranny fluid or some penzoil syncromesh?

well maybe you should take out the shifter and look at the pin thing in the shifter bottom where it is connected to shift linkage. is this a aftermarket shifter? some crap ones i used to have where hard to shift cuz the bearing with messed up. good luck.

^^thats the part i need to replace to make it less loose...i believe...do yo happen to have a pic of the entire linkage and where that piece exactly is? that the part.....i need to replace to stop making it so loose.....does that come with the entire shift linkage?

on the other hand..I KNEW SOMETHING felt wrong yesterday when the tranny won't shift into gear that easily...today after work i was driving into a parking lot...and put in neutral and car won't go into gear at all....did it for like couple minutes and nothing...shut the car off and went into gear...i knew it had to be something with the cable...got out my car tried adjusting the clutch little but the cable was loose WAYLOOSE....stepped on the clutch one more time and i heard a SNAP! clutch cable snapped.....i need to replace that now as well as the damn shifter linkage...

btw..can any one find the part number or pic of the clutch cable...can't find it on majestic honda...

any way how hard is it to replace...seems very easy, just going thru firewall might be a bitch

just to make sure..i'm assuming the clutch cable is the fault here...i can see the two pieces...the adjusting **** is seprated from the piece that connects to the tranny..u see the wire all split up in two pieces all unwounded....i don't think the cable to the fork is broken....haven't cehcked yet...u guys think there might be other problems with the tranny?

if someone can help me with removing and installing that would be great!!....also after installing how do i adjust it properly?

I have no idea how to fix the cable. That is my thread that you linked to though. That linkage is the assembly that attatches to the tranny under the car and goes to the shifter. Very easy to spot once you jack the car up...
