Default yesterday i bought a car...

ok last night i bought myself a 1994 civic Ex coupe auto. i am very excited to own another eg. this is actually my 2nd eg. my 1st one i totaled recently and i decided to pick this one up. i have alot of question to ask because i really want to take care of this eg not like my old one where it was breaking down every so often. enough with my life story. can some one help me wtih so Q's....

1)My temp guage is not going up?is it broken?if so then how to fix?

2)my hood is loose it latches but it leaves a gap of 1 inch and wen i press it down it won't stay no matter how hard i slam it... ?

3)my radio shows a "code" on the LCD. what do i do cus i can't live w.o music..?

4)is there any way to make the gas pedal less heavy. and the brake pedal stiffer?

5)if i buy a vtec controller will i be able to lower my vtec point to 3.5k rpm? (1994 eg coupe auto)

6)whats the best and cheapest mod to make my eg go faster?

THANKS EVERYONE

1.) Check the thermostat.

2.) Adjust the hood latch.

3.) Ask the previous owner for the radio code, if he doesn't have it. Buy an aftermarket radio.

4.) Adjust your throttle cable, Bleed your brakes, or upgrade your Master cylinder.

5.) Why? It does nothing to lower your vtec engagement that low.

6.) Auto to Manual swap.

about the stock radio asking for a code, call the dealership and give them the VIN, they might be able to help you.

yeah about that code thing, call the dealer, give them the serial #....or better yet just take it to them and ask for the unlock code....

they will charge you like $100 to unlock it.. its cheaper and better off to go aftermarket..

like mentioned earlier... lowering your crossover point to 3500 will do nothing for you...

if your temp gauge is not registering you can diagnose it (start with the connections on the back of the cluster & check thermostat) or just install a water temp gauge...

as for making that car faster: intake, headers, and exhaust will do nothing for you... boost or swap are going to be the only worthwhile approaches to that

well why lower your vtec to 3,5. it makes no different and i heard it'll slow your car down because vtec has a range that it should be in.

yes as said before, vtec engagement that low will actually hurt your peformance now to mention the fact that you have an auto trans so vtec wouldn't really matter when your trans isn't going to shift in the high RPM range

1) dont know

2) You could swap heads if you didnt already own an Ex. There's no way to swap a DOHC head on a SOHC block

3) K&N will help a little but my recommendation for every SOHC'er out there, since i used to be in the same boat, is if you want power, turbo it. If you go with a decent NA power package, you'll spend about $600 to $1.2k . If you get a turbo kit it will be $2k street legal. About double the price but you'll probably get about 3 to 5 times the HP.

This is about the best advice you could get except for number 6. Unless you can do it yourself, it will cost about as much as a b-series manual swap, maybe a little less, but you will gain a bit more hp for it, as well as tunability.
