How do you remove a JL W7 from a box?

How do you remove a JL W7 from a box?
I know that the screws are under the rubber surroundings but how do you get to them without damaging the sub? Im pretty sure that u have to remove the silver metal ring around the rubber but how do you remove it properly? if anyone has a diagram/manual to do it, it would be great
