Default Automachanic Question

I was driving my beater car(96 toyota camry) and then it suddenly lost power. The lights were still on. I pulled over to the side of the road as soon as i felt the car lost acceleration. Once on the side of the road, i tried to crank the car. It made a whirling noise but did not start. Two days before, i changed the oil with valvaline 5w30, new oil filter, and new thermostat and coolant. What could be the problem...I need to get the car started before saturday. Thanks in advance for any helpful advices.

sorry about posting it in the wrong forum..but i'm a honda noob guy and not much into toyota so i don't know much either. I don't know how to fix it. I bought a new battery since the current one was low on juice. But that did not work. So i called the shop and had it towed to get fixed. I'll post an update on what happened.

I called the shop and it was the timing belt. Thanks allmeGSR for the insight and posts.
