Default auto tranny: popping gear into N at a stoplight?

hey guys

before the spring comes when i can swap a manual tranny, i will have to live w/ this auto for now.

i was wondering if it was bad on the tranny if i shifted it from D4 to N during a long stoplight? it makes the car idle much smoother in N rather than having it in D4 while stepping on the brake.

however, when i pop it back into d4, i can feel the car kinda "jump"

should i just leave it in D4 and drive?

thanks

I do that with my beater civic, it doesn't really matter. In the big scheme of things, won't hurt anything.
