Its ok, but I feel that I lost some midrange vs the K & N filter. It does sound very loud, even when I had it hooked up as an CAI. Overall for the price I would just stick to AEM.

Which test? I always thought the sponge filters were terrible at actually filtering out dirt and particles.
So far the Apex unit has been good. All the tests I've seen rate it above K&Ns. And the adapter arm looks downright sexy.
