Default Gsr Vtec (just wondering)

My friend has a 99' Gsr with a Aem V2 cold air intake, and my other friend has a 00' si with a Aem V2 cold air intake. I drove both of their cars up in a canyon and the si vtec was real loud, but the gsr vtec was pretty quiet. Does anyone know why the vtec is quiet compared to the si?

Maybe because of the intake manifold design on the GSR ...? But who cares? B18C1 > B16A2. /

my car: 2000 Civic Si with AEM short ram, stock exhaust with aftermarket axleback (aka just sound)

friend's car: 98 GSR with stock intake, 5zigen exhaust with 2.5 inch piping

my VTEC hits loud as fawk, his is barely noticeable. this is probably due to my SRI (loudest vtec sound apparently) and my stock skinny exhaust and loud tip (amplifies the sound). he has the stock intake (quiet already) and too big of an exhaust (previous owner stuck it on, used to be turbo'd thats why).

anyway, those are two methods to get super loud and super quiet VTEC

side note: we have both driven and ridden in each other's cars, i think the GSR is faster, he thinks my Si is faster. go figure.

i think your friend with the gsr made his car a sleeper duhhhhhh and did you engage into the dual butterflies with the gsr? that's what makes it kinda quite. when i unplug that regulator, my vtec is hella loud. lol

the GSR has secondaries in the intake manifold vs the Si which has single runners

If you have a b20 VTEC in your car, you should know the answer to this question.

as already said its cause the gsr has to butterfly valves while the si has one. if youve ever compared a da to a dc2 gsr you would see the same effect.
