Dumb Question about GSR brakes on 93 H/B
Alright when I bought my car, a 93 SI the guy said it had GSR brakes on it.......Well now its time for brakes on my car and I need know:
1. What is the easy way to tell if the brakes are actually GSR? since SI already have 4wheel disc
2. if they are GSR brakes do I buy pads for a GSR or my SI?
Thanks!

1. the easiest way for us to tell you, is post a picture of your brake setup.
2. if they are gsr brakes, then you would get pads for the gsr.

For one, the GSR had ABS. The Rear Hub/Bearing Assemblies as well as the Spindle should be equipped with the proper Sensor setup. If you see a hole in the lower caliper mounting lobe, that means the sensor was removed. If you don't see this, then he's probably just talking about the fronts... The 93 SI and GSR had the same size Rear Rotors, Calipers, and Caliper Pistons. So get whatever's cheaper in terms of rear pads and stuff.
The Front Brakes for the GSR had bigger rotors than the 93 SI. This requires a different Knuckle/Bearing/Hub assembly, so that the Caliper can mount in the right spot. Check the diameter of your Front Rotor. 262mm = "Integra" Brakes. 240mm = You got punk'd! (if your rotor is less than 10" across,
)
GL, and let us know!

Hey thanks alot for the help I went out and measured the front rotors and they are indeed a little over 10" so I didnt get punked! lol pretty happy about that
So now I just need to order up some rotors and pads for an integra
ANy advise on good pads for a car that sees daily driving 95% of the time and "spirited" back road driving on the weekend....well when its nice here in WA

Well, I'll admit that I don't own a GS-R, but everytime I do research at http://www.acuraoemparts.com for the rear disc setup on a 94-01 3/4DR GS-R, it shows Rear Hub/Bearing Assembly 42200-SR3-A53, an ABS-equipped assembly.
This was also true for the LS. AFIK, the RS (whatever years they were available from 94-01) seemed to be the only model that didn't have ABS... But again, I'm not a teggie yet.
There are several other Civic/Integra models that had the same Rotor/Caliper size as the GSR, without ABS. You might have GSR brakes (Knuckles, Rotors, Calipers, etc), without the ABS Sensor. This is fine... ABS reads from the Front Axle, not the Hub (as for the rear). And if you're not running ABS, then it doesn't matter if you got GSR Brakes or LS or RS in the front... They're all the same Rotor and Caliper Piston Size.
If you have any other links to sites that list OEM parts that show the GSR did not have ABS, then please post. I'm curious as to what's out there. TIA.

Hey ECKO... If you measure your Front Caliper Piston, you will be able to differentiate between Civic/Integra Front Brakes. The difference comes in Caliper Piston Size, as the Integra is larger.
I don't know the exact sizes for the 99-00 Civic EX/SI and 94-01 Integra (!R) Front Caliper Piston Diameters, but I'm sure if you do some digging, you'll find what you need...
We are not the first. We are not the last. SUUUURRRRRCCCCHHHHHH!!! lol

so could they have just mounted the integra Knuckle/Bearing/Hub/disc assembly and still used the SI caliper?
Even if they did I will still need the integra discs, would just mean I would want to change out the caliper in the future?

OKAY.
Im a little tired, lets do this AGAIN.
99-00 Civic Si and 94-01 Integras. Except the Type-R, ALL take the SAME rear rotors and brake pads. They are the same brakes.
The 99 Civic EX and Si take the same 10.3" front rotor as the 90-01 Integras, but 90-93 and 94-01 Integras have calipers with 57mm pistons, larger than the pistons inside the civic calipers, they also take different pads, the 94-01 Integra ones being the largest.
So if your Si has GSR front brakes, your ok cause the rear discs are the same anyway. The Integra caliper will be stamped 17CL14VN
