Is there a Common Suspension problem with 93's?
My front drivers side suspension is making squeaking noises as I go over speed bumps. A neighbor tried to tell me that this is a common problem with 90-93 accords, something about ball joints being defective or poorly designed. Has anyone else heard this, or is this guy smoke'n too much rock? BTW, my car is completely stock, not lowered and has 151k miles.
Usually see them on higher mileage cars. Around 100k or more. Just a mix of wear, loss of grease and/or water getting in them.
P adams said, I believe, that the grease they use on the ball joint doesn't work well when it gets cold. I always thought it was my strut bushings or struts themselves. Mine used to sound like a fart whenever I hit a bump, when it was cold. After driving around for a little while it would quiet down. If it only does it when it gets cold, it's probably the ball joint. I don't remember if P had a remedy for it. And yes, it is a common problem.
My 1992 makes a squeaking sound intermittently from the left front side when accelerating or decelerating (when the weight load on the suspension would shift), or when I would press down on that side of the hood to investigate it. It was only intermittent and wasn't weather related.
Nice to know I'm not the only one with this.

I suspect a whole lot of people have this little problem. Most of them just never take it to a shop for it. I wish they would put a zerk on it (the ball joint) somehow. I would check out the suspension just because it's the "right thing to do".
lube the middle bushings on the sway bar,,,,,,,,,,,,,remove bushings and put grease on them but JUST on the inside part DO NOT get grease on the outside of the rubber bushings or brackets could slip off

The service news calls out to use dow corning silicone grease. I'm pretty sure the reason petrolum grease isn't good for the bushing. But you are correct to only lube the area where the sway bar passes thru the bushing
i got this in my 93 at first it made me think part of my suspensions fugged up.
I parked it ast my buddies placec one nightm , it was cold as hell left there for like 6rs.
Drove and the uspension was farting up a storm on the semi bumpy raod.
it didn't quite down till It warmed up and I was on the freeway from the local strets.

Ive had that noise comming from my balljoint 2 times, the left side and then a year later the right side. The noise was realy loud when it rained or when the car was cold. After changing them the verdict was the same, the grease didnt do the job anymore and the assembly was a bit loose. A factory honda lower ball joint shouldnt cost you more than 40$ to replace yourself, so i guess its worth it.
Yea you could still drive with that, but if the ball joint fails, the wole knuckle will be thrown and you will be left with a towing bill and a lot of parts to replace. I dosn't happen often, but I prefer spending 2 hours and 40$ changing this than having to tow my car...
