Default Gauges!

I tried searching for this but I didn't find anything. I have a 1990 civic cx and the gauge cluster doesn't have a tachometer in it. I'm just wondering if the swap for a tach-gauge cluster is a straight-up replacement or is there any fancy work involved (i.e. wiring)? Also does it matter if the donor car is an automatic if the recipient car is std?

I got a passenger side mirror today. One of the civics at the pick your part had a lot more switches on the dash than my car... I don't live in such luxury :D It also has a tach gauge cluster that I'm going to try and get some time soon.

Thanks!!

As long as the cluster you're getting is from a 90-91. it will be plug and play..

I like the sound of that! One more question though- does the gauge have to come from an Si, or can I take it from any civic of the same year (90-91)? I saw a 4 door at the pick your part with a tach-cluster...

Thanks for your help!

Get yourself a 90-91 Si (Civic or CRX, doesn't matter), and swap the speedometer to keep your mileage correct and have a tach. Good times for all!

You can use the Sedan cluster, but I have found more Hatch and CRX than anything for sale.

Muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahah!

Leather shift boot!

Gauge cluster with tach :D

Stock dash panel from around heater controls (left) and console which I think is from a CRX...? Can anyone identify it? It almost mounts in my car the way it is but the passenger-side of it is too big to go in behind the glovebox.

I don't know if this is stock but the console has kind of a cobalt blue colour to part of it... Im going to try and attach it to the bottom dash piece (where the ashtray/cig lighter are) and add a little storage space if I can. Any advice on this idea would be appreciated!

Rock on dudes!

Can you do a whole dashboard conversion? Si to a STD to get that tachometer?
I'm guessing thats the more expensive way tho...

90Civic Si- I'm told that the gauge cluster is a straight swap so no need to take the whole dash.
I started working on the console. I felt kind of bad taking a hacksaw to the thing but it had to be done :D I'm going to mould the console to the bottom dash (where the cig lighter/ash tray is) with some kind of glue, then use filler and sand it down. Then comes paint and installation! I'll keep you posted on my progress.

That console won't bolt up to your hatch unless you have the metal skeleton that goes inside it. Leaves a nice little gap too.

I'm blending that console piece with my dashboard. It's going to be a one-off dash/console thingy. I have already started working on it and I hope to have it finished sometime soon. I'll post some pictures of it asap.
