Default 87mm build, looking for info?

I have a 87mm build that I got from doing a trade. I searched and found mostly 84mm-86mm builds and couldn't find any real info on 87mm builds. I know it might be to big, since I have it, I'll try it. I would of prefered 85mm. What cams would you guys recommend? I was looking at M22x...

M24's or pro3's, I hope you have a professionally ported head to go with this block

Right now, I have a B16 head with Skunk2 valve train with Type R valves. Planning to send it out to get ported. It was easier, cheaper and faster to build a boosted car with a stock head. Now my goal is to build a fast allmotor..... This build might take awhile, so I be looking for idea's...

I know it's pushing it.... That's probably why I hardly see anyone running that big. Since, I have it, I see how far it goes....

That block looks real nice. The sleeves are nice and thick. The only place where it seem a bit thin, is between the cylinders. I think an 87mm build is fine on the street, the reason very few people build them is because if you scar/scratch a cyl wall--thats it--have to get a new block. Whereas if you had 85-86--it could be rebored...Looks good though.

I'll be driving it to the track.... A good 30 miles or so.... I just don't have anything to tow it or I would make it a full race build up. Like my other boosted car, that is my daily driver and still getting over 30mpg. Right now I have a DC and looking for in EG, so I can put this motor in.

Rocket, what would be a cam in this set-up? And have you seen anyone else with this big of bore?

Measure the thickness from the cylinder wall to the flat on the outside of the cylinder on the siamese poriton of the cylinder. You'll be shocked and it's even thinner than that 3" or deeper into the block.

you better not put that 87mm block on the street. you are not going to have it long. its going to make power and torque, but 87mm is not for stop and go traffic. I think its a risky move, but if it works, ehhh....

maybe you should try bigger cams like skunk pro2, pro 3, m24xx, or maybe rocket new camshaft (supercams?) to feed those 2.1L monster..

btw that was just some 2cent
