Default I need help...1st gen teg is bogging!!

It was really bad yesterday. It idles around 500 rpm and is a not that tumbly. When I step on the gas into first it stumbles REALLY BAD. It's the same in the rest of the gears.
I have to rev it really high going into each gear!...So I figure it may be the fuel filter so I changed it just now. It still does the same thing just not as bad!?! I checked the fuel left in the old filter and it looks exactly like chocolate milk...Should'nt it be clear still??
I think:
water in fuel?
rusted tank?
The car has been sittin' for around 4 months. Other than that the car is in good shape.
There is no air filter in the filter box...Would that cause this?? I'm getting one tommorow.
I need this car for work!!! Any info would help. THANKZ!

The guy replaced the head assembly...It's like 44 degreez here. I don't think the weather is making any diff. on my engine.
So I'm clueless!
Thanks anyways.

Timing Off??...You don't think the gas tank has anything to do with it? Also the Remaining fuel in the old filter...What should color look like?..more or less.
Thanks

Sounds like you might have a clogged injector but first siphon out as much of the old gas as possible. Fill it up with some fresh stuff and some of that fuel injector cleaner and some additive to turn old gas into usable stuff (ive seen it at a few parts stores before). Remove the spark plugs, if they are fouled replace them. Take off your distributer cap to see if it is super corroded underneath, if so give it a quick light sand and replace. If all of this doesn't work you could test your plugs wires or just replace them, that could also be it. Beyond all of this it could be a clogged injector meaning you'd have to take them out and get them cleaned (isnt that pricey compared to new ones).

im pretty damn sure its timeing....i went through all that trouble too...wasted all my money buying all new injectors and fule filters...when all i had to do is advance my timeing 10 degrees......you should check your timeing first befor you go into more depth with the troubleshoot.

i think i just found the problem with my teg, i had the battery moved to the back of the car and the day that the missfire started i was hulling a bunch of stuff in my trunk and it dameged my negetive ground, i moved the battery back to the front and will test it as soon as i get my gas tank back in, its like brand new in side, i dont think you have rust in yours either becouse gasoline dose not alow it to rust, i think you also have a bad ground or battery terminals or the ground to your valve cover or trrany is bad.

My Dad thinks it's a vacuum leak at the intake somewhere...WD-40???
Does anybody have pics or info of which hoses to check?...All hoses going in and comming out of the intake?
I called a specialist and he said "I can almost guarantee that your timing is off."
I've never messed with D16A1 Timing before!
Any tips??....Thanks alot!
P.S. I have a larger battery compared to the stock size. Would that matter?

i tought it was the vacum at first before replacing evry thing including the evapo canester and as for the diagram of your vac lines it should be on the back of your hood and as far as engine timing and the ignition timing you mite want to get a repare manual for a 1st gen teg and you will need a timing light and one more thing if you didnt tuch the distributor mount bolts then your timing is alright becouse thats how you ajust it by moving the distributor back and forth.
