my stupid dome light on my del sol doesnt turn off when the doors are closed so the alarm i just put in wont go off if the domelight doesnt work. it just stays on in the door position or the regular on position. the pin switches on both doors are new , is there any other ones i can check to see why its doin this? out cars dome door switches run off ground right?

I always thought the switch interupted the positive lead.......

 

i dont think so. cause the switch is grounded and when it lets out it makes the wire ground i thought ..

 

do you have an aftermarket CD player? i know on my old 98 EX i had to connect 2 wires behind the deck b/c they were run through the factory stereo and were unpluged when i put in an aftermarket one. i dont know if its the same story with the del sol's though.

 

i don't own a del sol or anything of the sort so I am sure somebody else on here will know but.... How many wires going to and from this switch in total. If there is just one then it is interupting ground, if there is two then it is interupting positve.

Or get a volt meter, your best friend when dealing with any electrical problem, I cannon emphasize this enough.

remove the 2 door pins from the b pillar and see if your dome light turns off. if not, you have a problem with your circuit or alarm install. it is possible that your alarm has a dome light supervision relay that is stuck or is improperly installed.
