Default what intake for gsr 92-95 hatch

well i'm not looking to get an opinion on which intake to get. but to see which one fits. i'm looking to just make sure that it would be carb legal. just want to make sure i would be able to smog with an aftermarket intake, and not have any problems. i have a 92 vx, with an obd 1 gsr motor, with a stock gsr intake manifold.

i know aem has hybrid intakes, but those are not carb legal. i was wondering if any of the other aem intakes would fit ok, since their other lines would be carb legal. or if there are any other intakes out there that would fit with my setup, and still be carb legal.

thanks for any help

i would say get a aem hybrid cause u got a swap. they are CAI and are a bolt in for swapped cars. however, they aren't CARB legal, so smog? i doubt it. plus they're like 190 bucks. try a generic short ram! prolly your best bet.

i put an aem v2 on my gsr swap. of course, i haven't smogged it yet so i'm not sure. if you go aftermarket though, don't go el cheapo. you're more likely to pass smog with Injen or AEM. cheap intakes produce cheap results.

which v2 did you get? did it fit directly, or did you have to modify it?

i was thinking bout getting the same thing and was trying to get some help on here but no one would answer my question correctly. if you was to get the v2 for your car you would have to get the gsr one if you still have the stock manifold. i have heard it will fit right in and some ppl said that it will fit but you have to shave some of the fan shroud and relocate the coolant reservoir.

I used an Injen short ram intake from a GSR when I BAR'd my GSR motor back in the day. You want to purchase an intake intended for the GSR motor.

I use a Comptech Icebox for the GSR and a stock GSR intake arm. Passed BAR.

If you pass BAR with the intake installed, they'll note it on your BAR sticker. In So Cal, the Carb EO sticker they give you with the intake is pretty much useless, they'll send you to the ref just to verify. Having the intake noted on the BAR sticker is your proof that your parts have been verified.

cool. thanks for all the useful info. noramlly see a lot of posts that just get worthless replies. hopefully i'll be bar'd by next month. just have to clear a cel code for o2 sensor not attatched to the cat. but got that welded on, so now just need to clear the code, pick up the intake and see if i pass. wish me luck
