hey guys just installed ctr cams in gsr
hey guys i just recently installed ctr cams with vtec controller vtec set at 5600 in gsr and loving it. ive heard that if i take out my dual stage manifold for a skunk2 manifold, then i would gain alot more. is this true? or should i keep with my dual stage mani. did alot of search but havnt got answers specifically. thx
CAN U FEEL A BIG DIFFERENCE JUST ASKING CUZ I MIGHT DO THE SAME THING
OWW AND MY FRIEND HAD SKUNK 2 INTAKE BIG DIFFERENCE HE HAD LS VTEC GSR HEAD THO

I've also been told that witht eh CTR cams you can get more power with a better flowing intake manifold. i swaped out my stock gsr inatake manifold and put on a skunk2 one, "fatter and shorter runners" looks better and made the car scream with only intake and stock exhaust. in my opinion anything is better then the "dual stage" gsr intake manifold! Just my two cents...

It doesnt suck, it serves its purpose in OEM form.
I would however ditch it in your setup in favor of a Skunk2 or something of the sorts. Depending on your other mods you might think about getting some dyno time as well.
EDIT: If you do decide to switch to a single runner manifold you will need to change your ecu as well.

I just put CTRs and the Skunk2 manifold on my boosted setup and retuned it. The difference is stunning. I would recommend upgrading the manifold for those cams to flow a little better.
You will probably benefit from some tuning to take full advantage of the extra airflow the CTRs provide.

like all else said skunk2....but the dual stage manifold isnt junk....it was an engineering ingenius move...if you understood how it worked i think youd respect it a little more...

I agree with this statement. The dual butterfly system is excellent for the oem gsr setup. IMO, a nicely ported GSR mani would be good for those on basic mods, but swapping to the skunk/type r mani is better for higher HP applications.
I think the reason why some think the type r style manifolds are increasing the power in their vehicles is they're noticing the sudden crossover into vtec, unlike the GSR mani system where vtec opens and then the IAB system follows.

No, as long as you plug in all your sensors, you'll be fine.

for OEM and mild setup, ctr cams are the best. but if you plan to upgrade skunk2 IM and skunk2 stage 1 are a great combo. just remember to keep the stock redline

Also do you think i will gain any power, i only got bold ons C/A, headers, exhaust?

As part of tuning, you should either chip a p28 ,p72, p05, or p30 ecu and start with a type r map, and work from there. Running the CTR cam with the GSR maps wont yield as much gain as if you ran a type r map specific to your car.

The torque curve wont be as flat and gradual like you would experience with the GSR manifold. Instead, as lVlemphizStylez had mentioned, its shifted to a different point in the curve. Now, you would experience the torque curve with more of a suddenly climbing action as you crossover into vtec and higher rpm's/powerband.

and how bout the low rpms? just lag out a bit? or will it also feel kinda like the dual stage mani even with BIGGER cams. i love the lil torque for daily driving and still not sure if i should go with sk2 mani im leaning towards it

hopefully later on when you understand how it works maybe you wouldnt say it sucks...

If you want the functionality of dual stage/IAB, just port the OEM GSR manifold and run it.

oNCE again, Agreed!
I seriously think some honda owners have this equation for power: More noise = Gain in Power
