MB Quart QSD 216 for the front... which speakers for the rear?
i have a 2 door 94-01 integra 6 1/2 speakers all around.. im getting some MB Quart QSD 216 for the front.... but i was wondering which co-axles to get for the rear? powered by a JL 300/4 by the way
Nice choice of speakers!
Whatever you do, don't waste your money on high end speakers for the rear. You ain't going to hear them.

I would go with the premuim line. They aren't that expensive off ebay. I have the Qm 218 up front and they made my reference set in the back sound like crap. If I had to do it over again, I would get the premiums for the rear.

I run 6.5" Eclipse 2ways front and rear in my 94LS, the tweeters are disconnected on the rear speakers, the fronts are mounted to custom MDF mounts, [replacing the stock plastic ones] the rears are mounted in custom MDF and fiberglass cabinets, [in the stock locations] no amps or subs, Alpine HU.
I would go with a set of MB QSD, PCE or RCE 164 woofers, [no tweeters in the rear].

Would you suggest building a fiberglass cabinet or freeair ? I have a 93 civic htbk and I took the factory rear brackets and mounted a 3/4 in mdf rings onto the metal bracket

i used to have mb quart all around
Only problem is that you cant turn it up too loud for too long, sure it sounds crystal clear but the crossover box takes over shuts the tweeter off to prevent damage. That was my only gripe. Other than that mb quart is my favorite. Dont mean to jack this thread but im kinda pissed that all a sudden after about 3 years of using my mb quart pwd 12 inch sub, it decides to just take a crap and do nothing at all now. i was only using the alpine 350 watt monoamp too. oh well, does anyone know a good sub to get for that amp? someone told me about BRUTUS?? As far as your question goes, you will be fine with just a decent 6.5 inch speaker in back. Just make sure they are all amplified and the hpf is on

The cabinet made a huge diff. on my 6.5", I first ran the oems, [about a month] then was given 2 sets of the Eclipse by the rep. and installed them on the oem speaker mounts and it sounded about the same , [I was still running the oem HU] I added an Alpine changer, [to oem Hu] and SQ went up, [oem HU was cass.], then make custom MDF speaker plates for the front and again SQ went up, installed custom MDF speaker panels for the rears and as expected SQ went up some more.
Final got an Alpine HU, [CDA-7893] and of coarse it made a huge difference in SQ, I was impressed as the speakers were Eclipses entry level 6.5", [just a 2way] so I did some Dynamating in the doors, [replaced plastic vapor barrier with a single sheet of Dynamat and some extra on inside of outside door skin] again a dramatic improvement in SQ and much better bass response, [due to sealing up the door with the Dynamat]
Next step was to make the fiberglass cabinets for the rear speakers, [what a pain in the *** that was, driving around what seemed like forever with the car stinking of fiber glass and no rear interior] but as dramatic as the change in the front was, I could not believe how good it sounded after everything was back together.
The last thing I did was disable the tweeters in the rear, we, [my installer and myself] were killing time playing with the Alpine HU trying to set it up properly but could not get my staging and imaging up front properly the sound was very left/right biased, I knew it was because of the tweeters in the rear, and was considering replacing the 2ways with a mid bass/mid range driver, and had a set we had salvaged from someplace, [Alpines] and put them in, [also 6.5" from a component set] I was not impressed, reinstalled the Eclipse, and was going to leave it at that, but while testing to make sure everything was working and cleaning up in the back seat, [grills were still off] one of the tools I had was a set of side cutters, and on an impulse I cut one of the leads running to the tweeter on the speaker did the same on the other side.
It's been about 4 years now like that, and it still is impressive, I used my car to demo what a system can sound like with just a HU and 4 speakers, [no amps or sub], I still get people that do not believe there is no sub or amp in the car, although not ear bleeding loud, the SQ and bass response is impressive and more then enough SPL for me.

LOL.... 3 years and "all of a sudden", kind of slow for sudden
Just ribbing you, 3 years is not bad for a sub, I get customers that go through subs at a rate of a set every year or two.
