Default 22' slicks for 300whp?

Just pondering on if 22x8x13's would be adequate for 300whp or should I upgrade to 23's or 24.5's. Anyone that used 22's on a 13' wheel with around that whp please respond with your experiences and the kind of 60's you're cutting. Thank you very much gentlemen.

there was a video of some guys from florida running low 10s on 22's

turbo correct?

i think 22 will be adequate but not optimal
depends on your gears too

hondaefguy did 11's on 22's i think

this season i used 22x8x14's with 33*whp.
managed 11's.

what's the rest of your setup? can you handle hi launches with bigger slicks?

Brian had 22x8x15 on the 00 si and that car ran 12.2 @111 w/ 1.81 60', but changed to 24.5x8.5x15 and went 119 with no other changes. Small tires just kill the top end.

I would rather spin a bit rather than demolish drivetrain parts that's why I'm considering smaller slicks. I just want to be certain that it would work.

Alot of cars run stock axles. Axles will last if the car can make enough power to spin them a little bit. and a well set up car also helps.

Didn't Brian had to shift to 5th with the 22's?

Better stick with the 24.5's then. I was gonna ask you this too, when you went 1.65, were you on 22's or the big slicks?

22's will work fine but running 24's would be a better option just for the fact you won't be shifting into 5th. If you worried about drivetrain breakage run more tire pressure, at least you'll have room to grow if you make more power down the road.

For the record I ran 11.7's with my old car and 12.1 with the new one on 22x8's with 240 and 257whp and was needing more slick at that power level.

Will I be able to keep it in 4th at around 120mph with an LS trans at 8500rpm on 13x22's?

The best 60' in that car with those slicks where 1.61. On the 12.1 pass it spon a little bit. The next pass I blew the motor up from a miss shifting. I could of gottin it in the 11's with just a few more passes

I run 22x8's running mid 11's trapping 122+ on a b16 trans. A buddy of mine ran 11.2@128 on 22's as well on a gsr trans, both cars make over 400whp. You should be fine using them.

At 7500rpm in 4th gear I was trapping about 118-120mph with the ls trans and 22's. You should have some room to play.

Yep, I've made 20+ 11 sec. passes all trapping 118-121 in 4th on a gsr trans. 121mph on GSR trans w/ 22's = 8450 RPM.
