can i just put a cone filter on stock intake
would this produce a gain, if i put a cone filter on my stock intake piping or am i better off just getting a stock air filter for that such restrictive air box. i would like anybodys input. i appreciate it.
get a k&n filter to fit your stock box or go with a cold air intake. get a true one though not one that sucks from under the hood and make sure you put a air bypass in it so you dont suck any water in it by accident

The bypass valve only works if the filter is completely submereged so it will rarely work

You've got two super simple options. 1.) You if you completely unbolt the air box and remove all of those pipes leading down into the bumper, and re-install everything without those lower pipes/resonator. 2.) remove the air box and everything below it and bolt in a cone filter to the intake pipe.
That is, if you don't want to purchase a short ram or cold air intake from ebay or whereever.

I bet there is a lot less noise with similar gains compared to a piped sri
