Default Tire sizes with 16" rims

right now im running 195-50-15's, i plan to upgrade to 16" rims but i dont have any clue as to what size tire i should run...the options seem to be 205-40-16, and theres 205-45-16...is there anything else that would look alright without being a thick sidewall?

could anyone post some pics or send a link for pictures of these tire sizes, or what do you guys pair your 16" rims with? thanks

You can use either size, but I would recommend the 205/40-16 for your car. The outer diameter of the 205/40-16 is closer to your car's stock 185/60-14 tires (it's 1.2 percent smaller, the 205/45-16 is 2.3 percent larger) and that will minimize the chances of rubbing on the wheel wells and it will preserve the accuracy of your speedometer and odometer better. It sounds like you're looking for shorter sidewalls, and the 205/40-16 will have that as well.

94 hatch, konig traffik 16x7, Parada Spec-2 205/40/16's

It was a CX with an EX cluster and b18b1 tranny. The speedo was actually ~10% faster than it should have been (88 speedo = 81 road). Those are also tien springs, so 45 walls would fill the wells even more. The tires were ever so slightly smaller OD than the stock 13's.

I use to run 205/40 on my coupe all the time. I put 205/45 it a few month before I sold it. I put 45 series on it because I got tired of the harsh rid and one of my rims were bent twice already. Sorry no pics.
