Buddy's car wont start.
Hey all, my roomates 96 ex wont fire up right now, it doesnt seem to be getting spark at all, the fuse is intact, we replaced the rotor and cap since they both looked a little corroded, is there anything else it could be that we can check before biting the bullet and buying a dizzy?
first check for spark and fuel. pull out plug 1 at a time and keep it in plug wire place ground strap on plug to block and crank you should see spark jump the gap. no spark sheck your coil for power. to test fuel use pressure gauge
The car defineatly doesnt have spark, how can you test the coil? Im pretty sure it has fuel, I can smell the unburnt fuel after cranking it a few times.
You take the coil out and look at it. You can see if the coils toast by just looking at the casing. It'll be somewhat melted looking or distorted in an area if its burnt out. Don't forget to check your ignitor too. Check the wires running too it and make sure that they are all on there snug. Then test it. Not sure the exact Ohm reading for it but it also could be a factor. Most likely its just the coil though. GOOD LUCK!
