Koni RACE for Integra Type R and '88 CRX rear nearly available
I was asked to follow up on the rear short body, race valved Koni RACE units for the rear ot the Integra Type R and '88 CRX. The first production is expected to hit the Koni North America office this or next week. The part number is 8041-1164 RACE and they can be ordered from any Koni retailer. The MSRP is $300 each and the going mail order retail rate appears to be in the $240-250 each vicinity.
They are 15 mm shorter bodies and 40mm shorter on max length (droop). The SPSS3 valving will work well up to 1000+ lb. spring rate range. Ride quality is going to be quite aggressive if used on the street as obviously it was meant to be used for racing.

not sure what you mean by "mail order retail rate".. does that mean that's what they'll cost when I go to order them?
THANK YOU for the update Lee.. I've been waiting for quite awhile for these!

MSRP is $300 each but in the real world of Internet and mail order discounting, I would expect that market price will be $240-250 each.

Hey, I thought about you just the other day as there is a new WRX opportunity.
There is a company working with Titan Motorsports (H-T sponsor) making custom coil-over strut housings for the WRXs using the Koni 8610 RACE single and 8611 RACE double adjustable racing inserts. This is a very new project in the last few months but they are projected to be available soon. The Nissan Sentra SER/NX2000 and a few others are on the horizon.

Pity Subaru doesn't use such a simple mounting system like Hondas... ie detachable factory mount that just attaches to a basic round shock body, but nooooo they have to be all complicated and make a whole one-piece bracket/body. Meh. I mean, I still have a set of pimpy 1-piece "replacement" struts for my Subaru, but those were my custom-built Ledas which required a set of stock struts from which to pilfer the factory mounting bracket.

The ITR and '88 CRX rear 8041-1164 RACE dampers arrived today and now are available through any Koni dealer.

Why? Most miatas racing are in SM, where they use the spec Bilstein.

thats a pretty retarded statement, given the popularity of miatas in autoX, and impending popularity in ITA, not to mention production car racing. Hell, it "deserves" race shocks well before some FWD econobox commuter hondas. But Koni has always been...peculiar...about their selection of cars that they engineer shocks for.....

Dumbass. Its about the bottom line here, and a proven market, not about a chassis or market deserving it. Honda/Acura shocks sell well, and they sell well for the track/race crowd - so its a no brainer to build the 'race' dampers for honda/acuras. Most of the miata race market is in SM, with the spec shocks. You could probably count the number of ITA miatas on two hands.

you can count the number of miatas autoXing on 1 hand?! lol
there are plenty of cars I see racing and at the track with no koni shocks with higher attendance than hondas

The miata crowd for autox/trackdays/racing (less SM) is a lot smaller than the honda/acura crowd. Pure conjecture, sure, since I dont have hard numbers but thats what we see at the track and autox evenets - and Koni hasnt ignored that.

um.. theyre are plenty of tracked and autox miata.
is this what youre arguing about?
they just want some attention, why so hostile about it? just because this is a honda forum?
