yep. some cage elements are required. check the NASA CCR here:

Honda Challenge rules here:

Are you going to do the work yourself? You might want to contact Calculated Risk since they did the work. I know Brandon started with a rollbar & then finished with a complete cage. 916 458-0848

I'm just wondering if cutting the bars of the main hoop will damage it any?
Im wanting to move the bar the comes down by the window As you cann see in this pic. http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=6738
And I think the bar under the dash is to low but these are just thought's I have to check the rule book to See What I want to do with them If anything.

The main hoop itself must be one continuous tube (by most rulebooks). The diagonal brace and "harness bar" are required by most rulebooks as well (although you might have a little leeway with placement).
What are you trying to cut out and why? Go to a good cage fab shop and have a long talk about what you want to do and why........ and then leave it there with your phone # and instructions to call you when its done.
i can't remeber the excats on this car, but im almost positive that you don't want to move any bars. The bars that are there, are in the spots for many reasons.
Mike really knows what he is doing, and not to be mean or anything but it really really sounds like you don't have a clue what going on. Im sure that if you called mike he would be more then willing to explain to you why bars are were they are.
Edit to clear it up for other people it seems like he want to move the "dash bar". and also the diagonal bars that run from the main hoop to the over head bar(the one peace bar that goes from the main hoop threw the dash).

The bar I'm asking about is the one that comes by your head in both windows it is not a required bar and I don't know why this bar is there and feel that it is more dangerous. If someone could tell me a good reason I would be Happy to leave it.

ok so i was right, he is talking about this bar. The bar is important, not required, but that doesn't say much ever check the minimum requirments for a cage in NASA and SCCA? You wouldn't ever catch me W2W racing with a minimum cage.
The bar you are talking about is there to keep the forward section of the hoop from colapsing. In a very very hard roll over something like this could happen. Some people like to add more bars to help this also.
If you look around you will see that almost every Pro- sedan race car has these. If you look the the Mazda that Randy Pobst drove in SWC TC he has them and to a great degree also.
I didnt answer your question in PM becuause some one else might have this question and they will now have a place to read it.

That bar should help decrease both the chance of "lozenging" - where the door opening changes shape as the angle between the main hoop and roof bar changes. It should also prevent intrusion into the driver's compartment, up where your noggin is.
If you are worried about bouncing said noggin off of that bar - not a ridiculous thing to worry about - the issue is actually about head restraint. I very specifically added an almost identical tube to my new cage, but I run a seat with side wings, specficially to provide a buffer between brain and steel.

I am going to order a seat with wings and a hans device I guess with those items the bar could stay and in that case would actually make it safer.
Thanks for the input.

Just use some really good padding on any bar you might come in contact with. I would not move the bars you are talking about.. they are were they are for a reason (i have seen this cage in person). you will be thankfull they are there if you ever have to use the cage..
