I just read tune to win..some parts like 5 times lol...i'm looking to get another book on suspension and have narrowed it down to two that are in my price range. However, for those of you that have read these, which one is the best that doesn't overlap carroll smith's book too much?

how to make your car handle - fred phun

race car engineering & mechanics - Paul Van Valkenburgh

I have Tune to Win and the Puhn book, and I would say that the Puhn book doesn't really add anything that isn't covered just as well in Tune to Win.

I agree. The VV book is a good step but I'd already had some ME stuff when I read it.

The VanValkenburg book is a good read if you are looking for the basics, but it will be mostly a re-hash of what was in Tune to Win.

hmmm....thanks guys...i have a feeling then that all the non-sae books will be the same regurgitation of the basics then?

would an expensive step towards

fundamentals of vehicle dynamics -Thomas D. Gillespie

be the next best step

if you buy that one, you might as well buy milliken's RCVD.

the problem with Gillespie's book IMO is that it has the basics, but it doen'st really go a step deeper.

RCVD meanwhile talks about it in a more detailed manner.

I'd recommend Dixon's tire and handling book as wel. Of the two (dixon vs gillespie), I find dixon's a better read.

Why don't you read all Smith's 'How to Win' series? I enjoyed his writing and found reading his books enjoyable compared to others.

I agree all of his "To Win" books are excellent and he does a careful job of not repeating the same information too much. Often he says, "I'm not going to go into too much detail because this is already covered in .... "

i'm about to purchase drive to win to add to the series...but would also like another book on vehicle dynamics that's a little more in depth than tune to win
