Default Interchangeable trannies?

Are the EG and EK trannies interchangeable? Could I put a 92 D series tranny in a 97. Would it matter if it's auto or 5spd?

is this fact or is this just something that you read on HT?
92-95 auto trany will fit a 96-00 block and vise versa?
92-95 5spd trany will fit a 96-00 block and vise versa?

b-series tranny will not fit on a d-series motor. I'm pretty sure almost all 92-00 sohc trannys are interchangable. On my 92 hatch I went through a 94dx, 98ex, 97cx, and 95si tranny all with the z6 motor.

correct, all D series transmissions are interchangable. If you change from auto to manual you will need to swap ot your pedals, add all the lines for the clutch, wire your reverse lights, route shift linkage etc...thats covered in here just search. As far as years, if you add an OBD-I transmission to and OBD-II car you will need to change the VSS if im not mistaken. Hope this answeres your question.

Theres a little miss understanding here. Most of you guys are talking about manual transmissions. But this guy also asked for auto which i believe has different sensors for years.

Manual transmissions.

Any Hydro D series can fit on any D series up to 00. Aka 92-00 can fit. 88-91 can fit but thats a cable transmission which isnt worth it on newer cars.

Any Hydro B series can fit on any B series up to 01. But again cable transmissions on the older years is not worth converting on the newer years.

F and H series are interchangeable on themselfs. F series transmission can be put on any H or F series motor and vise versa with H.

Auto Transmissions:

D series auto transmission can go on any D series motor, but may require extra wiring due to obd change over. For a rule of thumb i would stick with D series 88-91 with D series 88-91, D series 92-95 with D series 92-95, D series 96-98 with D series 96-98 and D series 99-00 with D series 99-00.

B series applys the same as D series but the years are different. I maybe be wrong on the years but i believe there, 91-93, 94-96, 97-01.

H and F series are interchangeable with themselves but again do the year thing just as a rule of thumb.

K series.... ask Litterbox or Nikos
