Alternator help
Ok, here's the deal. I've got a 1994 Honda Civic LX, the one that under the hood says made in Japan, not made in Canada like many Civics of this model say. Do I have a different set up? My alternator went. Well I bought a used one for my model, but it looks differently from mine currently installed. Why is this? I can be wrong, I haven't taken the alternator off of my car yet because I don't have a garage and its only 6 degrees out right now. But my friend and I both looked at it and doesn't look the same as the used one I got, and the used one I got looks like every other one for my model on eBay. Someone please advise. Tell me I'm seeing things and not that I got stuck with this rare alternator...

take a picture of the alternator and we can tell you if it is a civic one or not.
More than likely you got the wrong alternator, and make sure it is the right OBD, too because if they're not you can fry your whole electrical system

I agree make sure its correct.
My friend with a 91 civic hatch replaced the alt. The one given to him from the parts store (rebuilt) was a mitsubishi alt and it worked fine.
so i guess what im sayin is it could be different and work just fine

I've had a 91 alt on my 92 when i bought the car. It worked. Then i replaced it with a different looking one. It was fine for about a year then I fucked it up and replaced it again. Realized that i had the wrong alt the 2nd time. Now i have the correct one.
They all looked very similar but just different placement of electrical parts. Like the connection was the same, just on a differnt side.
I believe if you go to a dealer to get one, its like 300.00 plus dollars. It says japan on it but its made by mits. weird
