quick question

in my ek hatch if i swap from d16y7 to y8 i have to change the harness correct?

It will make it easier if you change the harness, but it's not required. You will have to do some wiring if you don't.

vtec is 3 wires. if you don't have them in your harness now, its not hard to add them.
