Default my 96 accord's radio is possessed; any help is appreciated

I drive a 96 Accord LX sedan with the stock head unit (radio and tape deck, no CD player). The tape deck works less than half of the time that I am driving. The numbers on the LCD screen are often jumbled up or not even there. When nothing is displayed on the screen, the tape player keeps flipping the tape over from side to side until I eject it. When there is something on the display, it works just fine. Does anyone have any clue what's going on?

More then a few times I have run into a problem that has those symptom's on Honda and Acura OEM HUs, [including the one in my 94 LS.

It is always the same thing, cold solder joints on the circuit board where the power/speaker receptacle connects to the board.

Try this, [if you can] reach up behind the HU to the plug and "wiggle" the plug, CAUSION there can be sharp metal up there, if things change, [cut in and out, off and on] that is the problem, you will have to remove the HU, take it apart, and re-solder the connections, not hard to do.

This will help pull the HU http://www.installdr.com/Insta....html 94
