Spun bearing? i hear this sound at 4k rpms
i did a search and saw that this problem causes a clanking sound.
can anybody show me how to check if its that?
i did have an oil problem, but just got it all fixed.
since i know that lack of oil can do this, how do i check for it?
sucks!!! i just did a 90k service, tbelt and all!

it sounds like a whizzing whirling sound from the engine
when off the throttle or partial throttle
and on full throttle its clanking...
i know there is no power loss, i don't think
cause i took it to the track the other nite and ran a best 14.6 with i/h/e
whats up with that?

i spun a rod bearing b4 and my motor sounded like ****. the craziest knocking you ever heard. it also gave me a loss in power.
the knocking is at all rpms (on my motor) dont know about other ppl's experiences. the only way i think you can check it w/out opening up the motor is by using a mechanics stethoscope. and still......... it is hard to determine the exact problem. the only way is if you open up the motor.

What are some symptoms of a spun rod bearing? And what does knock or ping sound like?
If you spin a rod bearing, your motor will freeze up within a few minutes as there is no oil available in a metal to metal situation. The bearing should disintigrate and huge pounding noise will occur. You will also have no oil pressure, also.
Look for another source for noise. Run engine and pull one spark plug wire at a time. (Make sure your heart is strong). If noise goes away, you have identified which cylinder is a problem. If noise stays, look for other sources ie valve adj, water pump bearing, timing belt or idler pully, exhaust leak, etc.
