I have a 12' Sony Xplod Sub

and when i'm on my 3 hour trips from and to school
i start to notice that it's messing up


when i play music its normal for a little bit but then i will just hear music just from the speakers . It's like my sub completely cuts off for 5-10 seconds. Then it starts to work again for a while. It's rather annoying

i know it's not my ipod hook up because it does it when i play a CD too.

and i've had this sub for about 1 1/2+ years now


time for a new one?

 

when it does it look for a red/amber light on your amp that says "PROTECTION"

if that is on you are eather carrying a load the amp cant handle, the amp is overheating or the amp is dieing on you.

if the protection light is not on, then one of the wires from the speaker terminal to the woofer may be a little loose and you should resolder it. (mine did that)

 

Check ur gains on the amp,prolly set them to high.
And also feel the amp is it hot,might be overheating and cuttin out.
Your prolly just askin to much out of the amp,time to upgrade.
